BASIC AND MAJOR RESTORATIVE

Basic restorative care involves routine dental treatments to repair minor damage, such as fillings for cavities, simple tooth extractions, and treatment of gum disease.

Major restorative care includes more complex procedures to restore severely damaged or missing teeth, such as crowns, bridges, dentures, and root canals.
Dr. Benton and Dr. Deluke are extensively trained in all areas of dentistry and are committed to providing the highest standard of care. In certain cases, they may recommend a referral to a specialist for procedures such as extractions, root canals, or dental implants to ensure you receive the most appropriate and effective treatment.
During a comprehensive dental exam, they will carefully evaluate your needs and determine the best course of action. Their top priority is your well-being, and they are dedicated to ensuring you receive the best care possible—whether it's provided in-office or by a trusted specialist.

COMPOSITE FILLINGS
We use composite filling material which is a mixture of acrylic resin and finely ground glasslike particles that produce a tooth-colored restoration. Composite fillings provide good durability and resistance to fracture in small-to-mid size restorations that need to withstand moderate chewing pressure.
Composite fillings are favored by many dentists. When using composite, less tooth structure is removed when the dentist prepare the tooth, and this may result in a smaller filling than that of an amalgam restoration (silver material). Composites can also be "bonded" or adhesively held in a cavity, often allowing the dentist to make a more conservative repair to the tooth. In teeth where chewing loads are high, composite fillings are less resistant to wear than silver amalgams.

CROWNS
Our office is fully equipped to place dental crowns—also known as caps—with precision and efficiency. Thanks to our in-office CEREC technology, we can often design, create, and place permanent crowns on the same day, eliminating the need for temporary crowns or multiple appointments.
For anterior (front) teeth that require crowns, we typically partner with a trusted local dental lab to ensure the best possible esthetics and shade matching. During your visit, our doctors will create a custom temporary
crown using our in-office CEREC technology, while the permanent crown is expertly crafted by the lab. Once it’s ready, you’ll return for a quick and easy placement.

DENTAL BRIDGE
Dental bridges are custom-made, natural-looking appliances used to replace one or more missing teeth. They help restore the shape of your smile, improve chewing function, and maintain proper bite alignment by preventing surrounding teeth from shifting. Bridges can be either fixed (non-removable) or removable, depending on your needs.
In our office, bridges are typically crafted from durable, tooth-colored porcelain to blend seamlessly with your natural teeth. For enhanced strength and support, some bridges may also be anchored by dental implants.

ROOT CANAL
Root canal therapy is a highly effective treatment used to save a tooth when the inner pulp becomes infected or damaged due to decay, trauma, or deep infection. Each tooth contains one to four root canals that can harbor infection, leading to pain, sensitivity, and potentially abscesses.
The procedure involves removing the diseased tissue, cleaning and disinfecting the canals, and sealing them to prevent further infection. It typically takes one to three visits and often ends with placing a crown for full restoration. With modern techniques, most patients experience minimal discomfort and long-lasting results.

EXTRACTIONS
When a tooth cannot be saved with treatments like a root canal, crown, or filling, extraction may be necessary. Modern techniques and anesthetics make the procedure relatively painless, with minimal discomfort and bleeding. The area is numbed before removal, and patients may be prescribed antibiotics to prevent infection.
Aftercare is important—activities like smoking, vigorous rinsing, or using straws should be avoided to support proper healing. Cold compresses can help reduce swelling and promote recovery.
For extraction of wisdom teeth, our office will likely refer you to an oral surgeon.

DENTAL IMPLANTS
Dental implants are a modern solution for replacing missing teeth, offering a durable and natural-looking alternative to dentures.
Implants are surgically placed into the jawbone. While highly effective, implants require adequate bone density, a strong immune system, and excellent oral hygiene.
The process involves surgery, healing time, and in some cases, additional procedures to secure the final restoration.
With proper care, dental implants can provide a long-lasting and functional replacement that closely mimics natural teeth.
